Highlands, NC

While working in Highlands, North Carolina yesterday I spotted a deer and several fawns crossing the Soqe River.  What a beautiful autumn sight here in the mountains!

Rap video filming in Atlanta

We were working on Tuxedo Road yesterday and passed by a home where a rap video was being filmed.  All the cars gives you an idea of the amount of people it takes to put a video together.  Atlanta has become one of the South's leading film spots for movies, videos and TV shows.  Pretty cool!

Company Outing

The Outdoor Lights began the fall season with our annual company outing where we toured the Georgia Aquarium.  The new dolphin tales show was interesting (minus the cheesy singer) and the aquarium was full of marine life from Jellyfish to River Otters.  We had a late lunch downtown and played darts, billiards and even a little bocce ball.  Everyone had a great time but Marco needed a nap on the way home!

Tail of the Dragon in Tennessee

I am working up in Tennessee today and thought I would take the "Tail of the Dragon," an 11 mile road through Deals Gap, North Carolina.  What an experience!  The road has 318 curves and attracts motorcycle and sports car enthusiasts from all over.  My Mini-Cooper took those curves like a champ, I wish I could say the same for my stomach!

Summer Craft Lighting

It's no surprise that I am a huge outdoor lighting fan of all types! So, I thought I would share this easy, do it yourself outdoor lighting project for the summer. These "canterns" would be a great project for the kids (with adult supervision) and could be created in a variety of shapes and sizes, depending on the cans used. For detailed instructions, see HGTV's blog spot. Have fun!

Highlands, North Carolina

Check out our photos from The Highlands in North Carolina. We have a crew up there today working hard to make our client's outdoor lighting almost as beautiful as the scenery itself. If you ever get up there, check out the Old Edwards Inn (the last phto from the top.) We did their outdoor lighting!

I'm designing an outdoor lighting project in Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina today.  The scenery is gorgeous here!  Palmetto Bluff is about 18 miles southeast of Hilton Head but without all the hustle and bustle.  It is best known for its nature preserves, fishing and hunting as well amazing land and water trails.  The Inn at Palmetto Bluff was voted the #1 best hotel in the United States by US News and World Report in February 2012. I love my job!

Today I had the pleasure of meeting with Polly McLeod Mattox, author of the visually stunning book, Private Gardens of Georgia.  I was able to tour her own private garden as I finalized plans to bring illumination and ambiance to her spectacular outdoor living space.  I am thrilled to be working on one of Ryan Gainey's gardens.  I didn't forget to bring my copy and got it signed! Wahoo!

It's beautiful down here in Columbus, Georgia; with perfect lakes for barefoot waterskiing!  I'm designing several outdoor lighting projects and I can't think of a nicer day to be doing it.

We had a company breakfast at The Outdoor Lights camping style! Dexter and Ricky made the hasbrowns while I waited with the eggs, farm fresh from my own hens. We used this time to thank the crew for thier excellent efforts as well as brain stormed ways we could further improve on our customer service. Some of the guys brought in extra special delicacies, like homemade tamales. It was awesome!

I was in Vidalia, Georgia meeting with a potential client today. It looks like I just missed the festival but the miles of onion gardens were neat to see.

I went to Tennessee yesterday and I got the opportunity to stand on the University of Tennessee's football field at Neyland Stadium.    Some folks around here in Georgia were not impressed but we had a great time working up there.  I think Orange is my color!

Bahamas Project

We kicked off Spring 2012 with an international project in Nassau, Bahamas. The client flew us down to complete the job over a 1 week period. They imagined a tropical island paradise and as you can see from the pictures, I believe we achieved that goal. We even had a little time to go fishing for Mahi Mahi. We saw Atlantis Casino and Resort from our boat, it was beautiful. We can't wait for the next international project!
